Your privacy is important to Marlborough District Council (Council). Council collects, holds, uses, and discloses personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 (Privacy Act) and the information privacy principles. Personal information means information about an identifiable individual.

Council is undertaking a consultation in relation to the Draft Cemeteries Management Plan. To support transparent consultation and decision-making, Council is required to make submissions available to members of the public.
The content of your submission will be made publicly available, including on Council’s website and at Council offices, libraries, and service centres. Your name, contact details, including email, postal address, phone number, or any other contact details will not be made available to the public.
Council collects this information in accordance with the Privacy Act. Council may use your contact details to communicate with you about your submission, the hearing process, or related consultation matters.
Any submission lodged in relation to this consultation will become a local authority record and will be retained only for as long as required for Council’s statutory, accountability, and records management obligations.
Council may be required by the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA) to share your submission. Council may withhold all or part of your submission if exceptional circumstances apply under the LGOIMA.
By lodging a submission, you acknowledge that Council will publish the content of your submission for the purposes of the Draft Cemeteries Management Plan consultation, except where Council decides, or is required by law, to withhold that information.
You have the right to request access to, and correction of, personal information Council holds about you. You can do this by contacting Council or emailing privacy@marlborough.govt.nz.
