Navigation (Vessel Speed) Bylaw 2025 Consultation
Overview
The Marlborough District Council (Council) is proposing to establish the Navigation (Vessel Speed) Bylaw 2025.
Under the Maritime Transport Act 1994 (MTA), the Council has the authority to regulate harbours, waters, and maritime-related activities in the Marlborough region.
Under section 33M of the MTA, the Council has the power to make bylaws for the purpose of ensuring maritime safety in the region.
Our Proposal
We propose to establish the Navigation (Vessel Speed) Bylaw 2025.

We want to establish the Navigation (Vessel Speed) Bylaw 2025 to maintain a similar bylaw to the Navigation (Vessel Speed) Bylaw 2009 which has since expired, but with some amendments.
