Local Water Done Well
Overview
Council is consulting on how drinking water, wastewater and stormwater will be delivered in the future, in accordance with the Government’s Local Water Done Well (LWDW) policy.
Council’s preferred option is a council-owned Water Services Organisation (WSO), established to govern and wholly manage planning, funding, investing in, building and maintaining long-term infrastructure for drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services for the district. It would also run Marlborough’s day-to-day water services, as outlined in the Marlborough’s Local Water Done Well 2025 Consultation Document.
